Individual Counseling

I offer both online therapy through a HIPAA compliant video service as well as in-person sessions in Flat Rock.

Individual sessions are 53-55 minutes in length.

I work with clients 18 years old and up. My goal as a therapist is to help you gain understanding, find meaning and make changes to obtain a better quality of life that you envision for  yourself.  This can be accomplished through addressing problematic areas, identifying your goals, building on your strengths, and learning strategies and effective coping skills to reach your goals.

At times, I may assign homework between sessions, such as observing your thoughts, writing in a journal and other methods of self-reflection. The process and content of the assignments will be followed up in counseling sessions for the development of self-awareness and healing. I will challenge you in a caring and empathetic manner to look at yourself and seek alternative options and strategies for handling life’s challenges.

Some clients’ may need only a few counseling sessions to achieve their goals, while others may decide they require more long-term counseling. You are free to begin, end and also return to counseling as you see fit. I have found that initial weekly sessions, followed by tapering off visits, is often the most effective form of treatment.

Please note that some change will occur quickly and easily, but more often change requires patience, persistence and practice.

The outcome of counseling cannot be guaranteed, but honesty will increase the likelihood of your having a successful experience.
